The Story

I am grateful that I've changed. Not only in how I look (because braces are nobody's best friend), but who I am. I am so different from who I was back in middle school, high school, college, and even in my twenties. I was selfish. I was fighting for attention. I really only cared about myself and what made me happy. And then, I was made new.
That probably sounds a little strange. Outwardly, nothing happened (except praise the Lord, I did get those braces off!). But inwardly, God shifted things in my heart. First, he taught me love in Uganda, when a little girl named Kebetso held my hand. Then, he taught me patience, when I taught over 120 high school students. 'Nuff said. Then, he taught me my life was not my own. My aspirations were nothing if not for others. And so I jumped into community.
A new creation = a new heart. No longer trapped by the world's expectations and standards and what its convinced us we need but is killing us slowly. No longer trapped by legalism, by a checklist of what I "need to do before God could possibly love me". But a forgiveness of my sins. A transformation of the harmful parts of my heart. A new hope and a new future. Offered to every single person on this planet.
