The Story

It's so easy to get caught up in the day to day annoyances. Lost keys. Traffic. Missing phone. Sometimes the "smaller things" can even cause big delays in our day. What I've found is that sometimes, that kills the mood for the entire day. Sometimes, it spreads to those I love. This actually happened recently when my husband was trying to pick me up from an airport neither of us were familiar with. My directions were sub par. He kept circling around unable to find me in this giant building (under construction, of course). I was so frustrated that I just shut down. Got mad. He found me. There was a little silence. Then we laughed. Wanna know why? I was wearing this shirt. He took one look at my shirt and looked at me. And we just shook our heads. 

What would happen if, when something annoying happened, we took a breath and didn't let it choose how the rest of our day went? We realized it was a silly annoyance that could be conquered with a little bit of patience and grace. 

So, as you can see, this shirt means a lot to me. It can remind me to change my entire day. And maybe, just maybe, I'll notice those around me more instead of my circumstances. I'll be able to tell them the real reason that even when I'm unhappy, nothing can steal my true joy; Jesus offers that true joy.
